The Moustachioed Podcastio

The Moustachioed Podcastio is all about honoring our favorite moustachioed actors. Hosted by Daniel Segura, this show was inspired by Daniel's pops, who has sported a mustache for as long as anyone can remember. Daniel's dad basically looks like a Latino Charles Bronson, and that's pretty badass. Let's talk movies and celebrate some hairy upper lips!

MP-016 Stir Crazy

Monday Sep 14, 2020

Monday Sep 14, 2020

I think every fan of comedy can agree that when you put moustachioed legend Richard Pryor and the incredible Gene Wilder in a movie together, hilarious magic happens. My homie Patrick Huerta joins me to discuss 1980's Stir Crazy. A movie that when you read the title and see the movie poster, you'd never think it was pretty much a prison movie. Either way, Richard and Gene find a way to make it an adventure.

MP-015 No Holds Barred

Monday Sep 07, 2020

Monday Sep 07, 2020

It was just a matter of time before Hulkamania arrived at The Moustachioed Podcastio. The homie Tim Yobo and I are taking a step into the ring and discussing Hulk Hogan's No Holds Barred (1989). So much growling, so much grunting, so much Hogan booty.

I still can't get the song out of my head! Enjoy today's SOLO CHOLO episode as I cover The Addams Family (1964) Episode 10 "Green Eyed Gomez." This is the first time I've covered a TV show episode as opposed to a feature film. I had a great time with it. The awesome set, the wardrobe, the corny jokes...loved it all. We are honoring John Astin and his moustachioed greatness! He's the man of many faces, the man holding the cigar and running the show.

MP-013 Up in Smoke

Monday Aug 24, 2020

Monday Aug 24, 2020

It sort of blows my mind how this Canadian dude and this Los Angeles Chicano ran into each other and created a stoner empire. Either way, I'm glad they did. My buddy, Eddie the Axe, and I dive into the stoner comedy gem that is, Up in Smoke (1978), in today's episode. Talk about a movie way ahead of its time. It's sort of amazing how well this movie holds up. It is still to this day incredibly funny and the sort of loose script, improv comedy style isn't seen enough these days.

MP-012 The Cannonball Run

Monday Aug 17, 2020

Monday Aug 17, 2020

Burt Reynolds is such a moustachioed legend that he's already back on the show with his 1981 outing in The Cannonball Run! He's officially a Podcastioso. Today, I welcome Dr. Lago Faustus, the official Dean of the Podcastio. The doc saw Cannonball Run, directed by Hal Needham, in the theater when it came out! I saw it last week. Let's see what our impressions are of this million miles per hour epic romp. And as per usual, please excuse my horrible impressions of ALL characters.
Follow Faustus on Twitter @EroticMadSci for links and updates on his latest works.

MP-011 The Last Man On Earth

Monday Aug 10, 2020

Monday Aug 10, 2020

I might have one of the worst Vincent Price impressions, but that's okay. Today, I'm joined by Bri Rivera to discuss moustachioed legend, Vincent Price, and his great performance in The Last Man on Earth (1964). The movie is sort of a depressing downer of a movie, but hey, I think we found several ways to have some fun with it. It's not too bad being the last man on earth. Plenty of fresh garlic, plentiful fuel and an entire mirror emporium all available just for little ol' you.

MP-010 El Mariachi

Monday Aug 03, 2020

Monday Aug 03, 2020

I remember the first time I saw Desperado at 11 or 12 year old, I thought it was so badass, plus, ya know...Salma Hayek. Then my older brother told me, "Have you seen the first one?" And I said, "The first one?? I thought this was the only one?" "Nah, man...the original one is badass!" So then we rented it shortly after and I absolutely loved it. It was much more rough along the edges, but at the same time just as fun. Plus, the mustaches! Today, we honor every Mexicano that sports a mustache. Why? Because I said so! I had a great time looking back at this one. Now grab a cerveza, and drink it from the damn bottle why don't ya!!

MP-009 Surviving the Game

Monday Jul 27, 2020

Monday Jul 27, 2020

Not much has changed since Ernest Dickerson's Surviving the Game (1994) was released. The rich remain seemingly unscathed in their efforts to marginalize the lives they see as lesser than their own. What's great about this movie is you get that deep message, but you also get a plethora of WTF moments and pure hilarity. I'm joined by Tim from Queens to unravel this bad boy. There are so many questions. Was Ice-T at all intimated by leading a movie supported by some of the greatest character actors ever?? Was nu-metal inspired by Ice-T's wardrobe? Can Ice-T control wolves? All these questions won't be answered, but listen anyway!

MP-008 The Meteor Man

Monday Jul 20, 2020

Monday Jul 20, 2020

Holy crap! Back to back CHOLO SOLO episodes. Covering The Meteor Man was incredibly nostalgic for me. This is the first movie I saw as a kid at the San Antonio Mission Drive-In. I'm honoring the moustachioed greatness that is Robert Townsend, who wrote, directed and starred in this 1993 superhero film. What a legend! This man brought the first Black superhero movie to the screen and I hope you enjoy reliving this movie with me. Drug Dealer people Meteor Man’s in town!

MP-007 Maniac

Monday Jul 13, 2020

Monday Jul 13, 2020

It's a CHOLO SOLO episode! What's sticky, sweaty, smells like sadness and has a mustache? That would be Joe Spinell in Maniac (1981). This movie is the first movie to make me feel like how I felt the first time I saw what goes on in a slaughterhouse. This a rough one, but you know what...I still had a good time. Tom Savini's magical powers of practical effects, Spinell's portrayal of a momma's boy serial killer and William Lustig's ability to keep this crazy train on the tracks makes it worth the watch. Plus, you get some killer Karate Kid Chinese flute music.
